Herzlichen Glückwunsch und viel Erfolg, Herr Bundeskanzler. Congratulations to Friedrich Merz, the newly appointed Chancellor of Germany. I had the opportunity to meet Herr Merz a few years ago in Hamburg during a Konrad Adenauer Foundation event I was involved in. Today, May 8th, marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe – a powerful reminder that peace, stability and democracy must never be taken for granted.
